Wow! If any book proved how excellent Melissa's writing is, this one is it! To write so perfectly about living your life slowly going blind without experiencing it yourself is amazing. Janie suffers from a degenerative eye disease that has slowly taken her sight. She is the most amazing, tough, independent woman I could ever imagine. She has taken steps to move away from her overprotective family and out on her own but while minimizing risks to her well being. Boyd has both emotional and physical scars from a tragedy that happened in his childhood. He has had trouble moving past this and letting people in to see the "real" him. Janie is injured but doesn't want to accept help but Boyd insists.

This story is wonderful! A journey of two individuals with their own baggage & issues as they learn to let each other in and find a path to happiness. This has become my favorite Melissa Foster book! It pulls you in from the very beginning and keeps you enthralled until the very end. Loved it!!

Touched by Love Love in Bloom The Remingtons edition by Melissa Foster Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Melissa Foster never fails to deliver beautiful, heartwarming contemporary romances and I always eagerly await her next book release. I haven't yet read all of her books (I know, I know, I'm working on it!) and this is the first in the Remingtons series that I've read. I like that you don't have to read these books in order so I've been slowly working my way through all of the series. I didn't feel like I missed out on a lot of details with the Remingtons since I haven't yet read the others and I LOVED Touched by Love because it truly is a touching story, maybe even more so than the other books I've read both because of the subject and the way it is told.

Janie Jansen is an exceptional technical writer and lives in New York City where she and her best friend Kiki went to school. Janie is very independent and doesn't want anyone to do anything for her if she can help it. She also happens to be blind but you wouldn't know it, based on how well she knows her way around the city. Janie will only take the subway to and from work and she is on the platform waiting to go home when she has an accident and finds herself in need of some help. Luckily, Boyd Hudson is on his way back to return her phone to her.

Boyd is a firefighter and is working on getting accepted into medical school. He has his own issues from his past that prevent him from moving forward and working through his problems but he meets Janie through his consulting job and is immediately taken with her. Even though she can't see, she uses her other senses and is able to see Boyd for who he really is. Boyd rearranges his work schedule to help take care of her while she is healing and she realizes that it's okay to allow her loved ones to take care of her once in awhile. Their relationship is pretty amazing because they help each other in ways that no one has ever done before and I could feel their passion and love for each other.

I loved this book and had a very hard time setting it down. I've loved all of Melissa Foster's books that I've read so far and I really think this one is one of her best. The characters have very real problems and issues to overcome and what happens when they come together to help each other is truly amazing. I always look forward to a new Melissa Foster book and I highly recommend this novel!
TOUCHED BY LOVE, by Melissa Foster, is a delightful book, catching your interest from the very start. I read the first chapter, provided as a bonus, at the end of her last book, River of Love, and I could hardly stand the fact that it wasn't available for me to continue reading at that moment. It grabs you from the beginning, as Janie falls from the subway platform, and leaves you longing to know more. Will someone come to help her?

Janie is one of the strongest female characters written by Melissa so far. She is blind, yet fiercely independent and when her accident leaves her in need of help, her buddy Boyd comes to the rescue. Literally.

Boyd, a firefighter studying to get into med school, is not without his own struggles. Janie is someone he's known for awhile and he's happy to help her for as long as it takes. Even if it takes a lifetime...

The pros of Touched by Love
• Strong female/Sexy, driven male
• It is a very touching and strong story with an exceptional beginning that catches you right off the bat.
• Boyd reveals his weakness early, leaving you wondering, "What now? Where can this story go?" which I think is a good thing. But wait...there's more! Melissa Foster does not give anything away too early.
• Janie has a great sense of balance between independence vs. need for help. There is a struggle, but a good one.
• I LOVED JANIE'S SENSE OF HUMOR! I actually envisioned the lead character in the movie "Inside Out" (Amy Poehler) as Janie. She was very quick-witted and funny.
• Janie had a disability but no limitations. What a great role model!
• Janie also had an amazing best friend.

Cons
• I always find it hard to believe when characters start calling each other 'honey' and 'baby' in the first few days they meet and/or hang out, even if it's in the beginning of what turns out to be a relationship.
• At times, it felt like I was reading YA lit when the word 'hot' was used to describe everyone.
• Is it really possible for there to always be/have 'mind-blowing' or 'mind-numbing' sex and kisses every time you are with someone? I enjoy them (both things!) very much but for that description to be used so much, well, that's in the category with the females consistently having 3-4 orgasms (which Janie does; and I'd love to know how many women in real life do every single time they have sex?)

The bottom line is that I feel like a song on repeat when I say this is my favorite Melissa Foster book! I know it will be until I read the next one. I think it's because Janie has so many talents and such a great sense of humor that it's not necessary to overshadow any disability she might have. Janie makes her blindness part of who she is and wants those around her to accept her for it. There is just the right balance of fun, love, challenges, and resolution.
